Whats the deal?

So this guy and I have been friends for five years, and always liked eachother a lot, but never got involved becuase we were always in relationships. About a month ago I gave him a call, becuase my ex and I split. He was so happy and excited to hear from me, so we meet up. He told me he had always loved me, that I was his best friend and he wanted to have a relationship. I took it into consideration, and said i would let him know. I spent the night with him, you know, and went home, feeling pretty great. We did this for about two weeks, and i was truely falling for him. Then he began getting weird, and stopped texing me all the time, he was very distant, I figured he needed space, I gave it a week, and then he wanted to see me. I saw him, and we hung out, I had a great time, and then when we said goodnight, i said, "start talking to me, I miss that' and he said, I deff will. I felt he was being ligit, but after that he didn't! I have talked to him once since, whats his deal???
