How to paint my fireplace?

I have a flat fireplace in our family room. The walls are a greek olive color and our furniture is black. The room flows into our kitchen that is colored a light yellow with rosewood colored cabinets, with white wood blinds. How should I paint the fireplace frame? The doors are black gl surrounded with white tiles, which I don;t really like and I;m thinking of replacing them in the future.
