Which do you do first when preparing a turkey, stuffing, or brining?

okay so my mom is in charge of the Christmas turkey this year, and she's never cooked a turkey, so guess who it all falls to? You guessed it, her 14 year old son. Okay so I've been looking online, and I hear after you thaw the bird you are supposed to stuff it, but then comes the brining, when it's placed in the bucket will the stuffing get messed up? Or should i leave the bucket approach and go for a shallow pan? I am totally clueless at this point...
