What is the best city in the deep south? (AL, MI, GA, LA)?

I am in a hunt to find the best city in the south. Montgomery has my curiousity and Atlanta seems a little to ghetto for my taste. From the states of Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana which cities/city is the cliest, wealthiest, most modern/good looking, ect....? I am looking for the southern version of LA or Miami (atleast close as possible)
